I am Alexis Ojeda-Brown and I am currently a sophomore English and American History major at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am a part of the international studies scholars program and I also was a part of the Writing for Change program. At UMD I plan on becoming active in multiple student activist groups and cultural groups in order to further integrate students from a variety of backgrounds.
UMD is my dream school and I am fortunate enough to be able to call myself a Terp. UMD provides me with unlimited opportunities to help me better myself as I try to reach my goal of becoming a lawyer for family law and a public servant for my city's local government- but, of course, this won’t be able to happen if I can’t get enough money to stay in school.
I am trying to raise enough money to pay for my tuition for this upcoming school year and to hopefully raise some money for books. Of course I wouldn’t ask for your generosity without putting in a little work of my own; I have applied for multiple scholarships and I continue to do so, and my family and I have saved up as much as we can (but hey, those bills don’t pay themselves. My family can’t go homeless for me, nor would I want them to.)
Any help I received will be welcomed with the utmost appreciation and I will be forever thankful!
