Alejandro's Wish to Walk

Meet Alejandro, he is a 5 year old little boy who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy when he was 2 years old. There are many types of Cerebral Palsy. His affects all of his motor skills but mostly affect his legs. When he was 3 years old he had a surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, in St. Louis, MO. The Neurosurgeon went into his spinal cord and cut nerve fibers that caused his muscles to be spastic or tight. Although the surgery takes that tightness away it left him very weak which is normal. It just requires intensive physical therapy which he has been doing for the past two years to build up the muscle and strenth that he wasn't able to before because of the spasticty. He hasn't been able to walk independently but is well on his way. He has the opportunity to work with a world renowned trainer from Scotland. Alejando is one of 8 children who got chosen to work with him. We will be traveling to Houston for a 10 day intensive therapy and because the trainer is from Scotland and doesn't have contracts with the States, insurance will not cover the costs. Not to mention all the travel expenses we will incur with being out of the state for 2 weeks.

Alejandro is the sweetest little boy I know.  He loves playing with his two older brothers.  He is shy at first but once he gets to know you he will melt your heart.  He loves hanging out with me (his mom) and often wants just hug me and give me a kiss for no reason at all!  We all love this little man so much and just want to give him the best possible chance of a normal life as we can.  We appreciate all your prayers, love and support that you have and continue to give us.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my son.
