Agustin Cal, Brain Cancer
This is the story of Agustin Cal, the 10 year old warrior who has gone through his 4th brain surgery this past Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio. Agustin was diagnosed with brain cancer on November 2012 and went through his first surgery that same month. Two years later the tumor came back threatening Agustin's life once again. In 2014 he underwent through 2 more surgeries, one in February and the other in August. After his third operation the doctors in Uruguay determined that Agustin's life probabilities were very low and the family would have to come to Columbus, Ohio with every little bit of savings they had left after selling their belongings to finance all the treatments. Upon arriving from South America on December 28th Agustin's family met with doctors at Nationwide Children's Hospital and his surgery was quoted at $150,000 plus another undetermined amount yet for a 2 year chemotherapy treatment. The family's goal is to raise funds in the amount of $75k which will cover half of the surgery performed this past Wednesday. The parents Carlos and Natalia will really appreciate any donations to this cause and lets all pray that Agustin will finally beat cancer this time and recover from his 4th brain surgery.
Esta es la historia de Agustín Cal, el niño luchador Uruguayo de 10 años que acaba de ser operado por 4ta vez este miércoles en Columbus, Ohio. Agustín fue diagnosticado con cáncer cerebral en Noviembre del 2012 y fue operado ese mismo mes en La Asistencial Medica en Punta del Este, Uruguay. Después de dos años en el 2014 el tumor cerebral del sistema nervioso tubo dos recurrencias y nuevamente Agustín fue operado en Febrero y en Agosto. Luego de la 3ra operación los médicos Uruguayos determinaron que las posibilidades de vida de Agustín eran muy bajas y la familia debería viajar a Columbus, Ohio EEUU, con los pocos ahorros que les quedaban después de vender sus pertenencias para financiar los tratamientos necesarios. Luego de llegar a EEUU, el 28 de Diciembre de 2014 la familia se entrevisto personalmente con los doctores del Nationwide Children's Hospital donde el costo de su operación fue estimado en U$S 150.000, además Agustín debe recibir un tratamiento adicional de Quimioterapia por un periodo de 2 años lo cual se sabe tiene un alto costo. La meta de la familia es recaudar U$S 75.000 lo cual ayudaría a cubrir la mitad del costo de la cirugía que se le practico exitosamente el pasado Miércoles 28 de Enero de 2015.
