Auto Jansz' & Andrea June's full length album for 2012
Auto and I are combining our efforts to release a co-written, full length album. We're taking the winter off (from performing, not life in general) to write new material! After a tour to Germany (in the works) and more great shows next summer (ah, summer), we'll hole up in a studio for several days and come out bleary eyed and elated!
The money collected will go towards the cost of recording, duplicating, and packaging CDs.
From Winnipeg punk to Victoria folk and ragtime, Auto Jansz has earned her musical stripes. As a member of popular roots band, Barley Wik, her songs and musical style turned many heads in the Canadian roots community. Barley Wik won Album of the Year at the 2004 Vancouver Island Music Awards, adn since then, Auto has come into her own sith solo recordings and performances that are making Canadia roots music fans sit up and listen.
A burly, bearded man approached Andrea June after a show and said he was so moved by her songs, that she "actually brought a tear to my eye!" But this is not uncommon. With the precision of a classically trained vocalist, and the raw intimacy of a roots singer, Andrea June impresses audiences with her carefully crafted songs. Blending surprising details with the comforting familiarity of roots music, she creates a sound that is both soothing and unexpected. In 2010, her song, "The Tide," was shortlisted for the Island Singer-Songwriter Contest.
