Greetings! If you came here from DailyKos and been reading any of my recent diaries and the conversations that have resulted (see links at the bottom here), chances are you might have a pretty good idea about what's happening. And if you didn't and/or don't, let me sum it up for you.
Change is in the air. A big change.
A growing call has been sounding from many quarters that it's time for a new economic paradigm.
A number of us, starting with some of the good folks at Daily Kos, are going to attempt to build one from the grassroots up.
We need some seed funding to enable us to leverage some other funding that will be coming on-line this fall.
Before I tell you what specifically I'm asking funding for to begin, I'd like to share how some folks are responding to this initiative:
“Part of making the complainer to worker transition is doing exactly what you're doing in this series of diaries....framing out a different view of our political and economic problems and their relation to all other societal issues.”
“I will be rereading this several times. I probably won't be the only one to say this, but I think you should seriously consider expanding this into a book length monograph for publication. This series of ideas needs wide dissemination.”
“And though I have always sneered at the word paradigm, it has been used so often in my experience as a corporate smokescreen for screwing over wage earners, in this instance I can see its real meaning. You do make complex things understandable. Looking forward to follow ups.”
“Excellent. Thank you. This paradigm shift that you've articulated so well...is everything. It's get this right or perish.”
“I hope people persevere through this one. It's dead on. We're dead unless we devise and quickly adapt, worldwide, economies designed for people, not capital.”
“Just thank you so much! I am so happy to see this! I have been considering the shift in a new paradigm, yet I lack the education or information, in order to gel logical thought! This diary give me tons of both. I have read it two times, first time with much going to links and doing some of my own searches to better understand some of the phrases and terminology. I will read a third time before commenting.”
“Wow. Excellent! Thanks for all this! Love your approach and tone here. Keep it up. I know you will! You have a new ally.”

And please keep in mind, for your consideration: we have an entire planet to realign in terms of its thinking, from growth to steady-state. And that transition is not going to be easy. We are going to need every tool at our disposal.
I'll leave you with this for now. Because it inspires me.

P.S.S. Here's a related previous funding campaign that I launched, there's a video there made by my dear friend Edge that might help introduce me to you all a bit if you don't already know me IRL. I had been kind of hoping that a big donor might have been lurking in the wings to fund this ongoing project, but oh well. It is infinitely better done from the grassroots, anyway.
Which is where i hope you all will come in to join the growing party.
