I am raising money to paricipate in a workshop with The Giving Lens. The Giving Lens is an organization that caught my attention a few months ago as my curiosity and desire to see things from a wider perspective started to expand. They travel to developing countries all over the world working with NGO's to help raise awareness and education to many by bringing enthusiasic and hard working photographers to document, experiance, and help the cause. If unable to attend a TGL workshop, I will be researching similar workshops that would travel for similar causes.
I have never traveled far before, but even as a small child I had an obsession with National Geographic photographers and their amazing skill. I'm no NatGeo photographer, but I don't want that to stop me from seeing the world in a way that is real and at the same time, giving back. The Giving Lens has several locations that they have made trips to, from Tanzania to Peru, in which they list the conditions and safety for the people they are bringing in. There isn't one location that looks any less interesting to me than another, so at this point, it's a matter of a few hepling hands to educate me on the things I really need to know, and friends helping me get there through donations.
Funds will help to cover expenses such as the cost of The Giving Lens workshop, which includes a donation to the NGO selected for the trip, flights, visa and arrival fees, passport costs, travel vaccinations, and travel insurance (and possibly a little coffee to get me through the hours of Google Research I will most likely end up doing beforehand).
