Kate attended an FC Barcelona Camp this past June in St. Louis. During the week-long camp, Kate was trained by FC Barcelona Official Coaches and former FCB players using the methodologies of Barca style. It was more than just a soccer camp though; FC Barcelona has a unique style of play that makes it different than the rest of the teams in the world. The Barca way teaches values such as leadership, discipline, respect, teamwork, effort, modesty, and enthusiasm.
On July 13, we were notified that Kate had been hand-selected by these coaches and trainers to train in Barcelona at the exclusive FC Barcelona Headquarters. This is quite an honor! These coaches and trainers evaluated more than 5000 players at the 25+ camp locations throughout the United States this summer and less than 10% of those players were hand-selected to join the Barcelona All-Star Squad!
Kate, and this privileged group of players, will engage in a full agenda of unique and valuable soccer and cultural activities for nine straight days in Barcelona! This invite-only program is created to improve the player's technique and competitive skills. The All-Star squad will train at the same fields that produced some of the greatest players in the world: Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta! Kate is pictured above with Xavi's brother (to the far left) as he was one of her coaches at camp! Kate also received the coveted "Best Attitude" award (hat signed by those coaches). Only 2 awards were given to each team: Best Attitude and Most Improved. Each of the 4 teams consisted of approximately 50+ players, so receiving an award and recognition is certainly something to be proud of!
She will be trained further by coaches who hold the highest coaching license there is: The UEFA Pro License. Kate and the All-Star squad will compete against top soccer clubs in Barcelona and represent US soccer in Spain.
For fun, the All-Star squad will tour the historic Camp Nou arena, attend 2 professional soccer games, take a guided tour through the City of Barcelona, enjoy a soccer session on the beach, followed by a dip in the Mediterranean Sea!
We will be traveling with Kate to Barcelona and joining her on many of her experiences. It is a very costly trip, so we've decided to start a campaign for her should friends and family want to contribute to offset the fees for her trip. The cost for her to attend this All-Star clinic for 9 days, along with airfare, is approximately $4000.
