Journey to the Holy Land
As I embark on a career in ministry, an exciting opportunity has come my way--I have been invited to participate in a clergy tour of Israel/Palestine in August. For years, I have longed for a trip to the Holy Land and even had to pass on a trip offered last summer that conflicted with completing an internship required for ordination. Now, less than a week after my seminary graduation, with gainful employment not yet fully materialized, the timing is less than ideal but the opportunity too rich to turn down. So, I am turning to you--my community--and asking you to help make this dream a reality by subsidizing the costs of the trip.
The trip is sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council and is described this way: “Participants will explore sites of historical and religious significance, including the old city of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Boston’s sister city, Haifa. On this spiritual and fact-finding journey, the delegation will meet with Jews, Muslims, and Christians; Israelis and Palestinians; and people representing a wide spectrum of political and social thought.” I would add that another benefit of the trip is the group itself, comprised of religious leaders in the Boston area traveling, learning, and engaging the issues together. The cost of the trip is $2000, which includes airfare and lodging. Thank you for investing in what will certainly be a life-changing, ministry-shaping experience.
