Love For Lleyton

Our name is Jon-Eric and Rachel and we have a 6 year old son named Lleyton. We had a completely normal pregnancy and birth. At 6 months of age, Lleyton was not meeting the milestones that babies his age do. At 9 months old he had his first seizure and we were admitted to Dallas Children's Hospital for over a week to run numerous tests. The doctors could find nothing wrong. Every test came back normal and eventually we were sent home without answers. My husband contacted numerous hospitals nationwide. Everyone kept pointing to Duke University Hospital, so we made an appointment and traveled to North Carolina when Lleyton was 18 months old. Again every test came back normal and were sent home. For the past 4 years we have watched our son physically grow but not meet any developmental milestones. He cannot sit up, crawl, talk or eat on his own just to name a few. He has daily seizures which are also keeping him from progressing. He relies on us and a nurse for his every need. Over the past year I, Rachel, left my job as a physical therapist assistant to stay at home with Lleyton to better care for him. Jon has become the soul provider for our family working as Lieutenant for the Longview Fire Department.  As Lleyton grows it is getting tougher to safely transfer him in and out of our family van.  My husband and I have decided that it is time for a wheelchair conversion van to prevent injury to Lleyton and ourselves. This will make it not only easier but safer for Lleyton to be put in the car to travel. We can provide for a lot of Lleyton's needs, but a w/c conversion is just too much for us to afford at this time. So we are reaching out to family, friends and the public to help us add this adaptation to our van for Lleyton.
