Hi. My name is Prof. James Small. I am CEO of the Sanaa Lodge Enterprise Ghana Limited. A thirty room villa, located in Cape Coast Ghana, West Africa.
The Sanaa Lodge was purchased 10 years ago by a group of grassroots African American women and men, led by Dr. Leonard Jeffries and myself, Prof. James Small, at a cost of $800,000. We were able to pay this off in 3 years, with very little development capital. We managed to open as a 2-star hotel that became very competitive. We were able to survive and rebound from the market crash of 2008. We overcame the market downturn in 2010.
Just as we were beginning to expand our market, we got hit with the Ebola crisis of 2014 and 2015 that decimated the hospitality industry of West Africa. The tourism market just dried up in a few months.
As African Americans doing business in West Africa, finding funding from the American banking industry has proven futile. Being the new kids on the block and foreigners in Ghana with no paper trial or credit experience in Ghana, we are left in a very difficult financial place. We have turn to GoFundMe as a means of raising the needed capital to upgrade our facility and to becoming a real competitor in the hospitality industry in the central region of Ghana again. So we are reaching out to family, friends and supporters to help us raise $30,000 over the next month. We thank you in advance for helping us in reaching our goal.
