Megan's Mission

Megan McGrain, of Mt. Airy, MD  is a young professional horse trainer, living out the life lots of young girls only dream of.  Growing up under her “very horsey” mom, Megan has lived and breathed horses since the day she was born.   She is now a trainer and assistant barn manager for Rockland Stables in Mt. Airy, at the age of 21 years old!  Several years ago Megan and her mom invested in two colts with sire bloodlines to Soprano* an Oldenburg directly from Germany.  Megan has gone on to brake and train Soporano Song, investing years of hard work.  He has progressed faboulosly and is a healthy, active, 5 yr. old gelding with lots of potential for the future.  However he was recently diagnosed with a breathing defect.  Last week Megan was told the left side of his larynx is almost completely paralyzed, meaning he can’t get air.  It’s equivalent to trying to breath through a straw.  Of course if is very difficult and uncomfortable for the horse, never mind painful.  He needs a minor surgery to repair and Megan is searching for help from fellow horse people.

*Last year while Soporano Song was healing from a injury, his half-brother, Soul Power (also sired by Soprano), was trained by Megan, placed 1st with Megan at the USEA Future Event Horse East Coast Championships in the 3 yr. old colt and gelding division at the 2013 Fairhill International Trails in Elkton, MD.  Soporano Song has the same potential to become an International Competition Horse.
