As many of you know, I suffer from a poorly understood disease that has decimated the mitochondrial function of my cells. This cluster of diseases is often referred to as ME/CFS/CFIDS or some other post viral syndrome.
The sad reality is, that after trying for the last five years to find a competent doctor here in Canada, there simply isn't one. In fact, Alberta Health Care doesn't even have a code for the illness.
In January of 2013 I had my genome sequenced in an attempt to shed some light on the genetic foundations of this disease, and
last year I was fortunate enough to work with two Dr's in the UK that conducted the first tests that proved I have a problem with cellular energy production.
Fast forward to May of 2014, I was fortunate enough to be accepted as a patient by Dr. Paul Cheney, the world's foremost expert in this disease. Dr. Cheney was present at the Lake Tahoe outbreak that first put this disease on the map.
The problem at this point is purely logistics. I must raise a total of ten thousand dollars to pay for: flight, accommodations, lab testing, and evaluation. Now I am capable of funding half of this, my hope is to raise the other half.
So please donate. If even fifty people donate as little as one hundred dollars than we're there. You can also check the "Pay Monthly" box and donate as little as ten dollars a month.
