Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read about my amazing Reilly and what he is going through. If you're on this page, it's hopefully because Reilly has touched your life in a positive way. You've either met him, come across my countless photos that I post on facebook, or you just love dogs! I've had Reilly since he was 8 weeks old. Reilly came into my life when I needed him the most. I was 15 and going through a very difficult time. I cannot thank him enough for the unconditional love and support Reilly has given me. Now, it's my turn to help him through this rough time in his life the best I can.
Reilly was recently diagnosed with a disorder called Degenerative Myelopathy. Degenerative Myelopathy affects the spinal cord causing a loss of function in the hind legs, which eventually leads to paralysis. His vet has suggested a few alternative/hollistic treatments to keep him mobile for as long as possible. The prognosis for this disorder is pretty grim, and most dogs end up requiring a wheel-cart in order to move around often having secondary-complications. Our goal with these treatments is to keep his quality of life as high as possible.
The treatments use a combination of laser therapy and acupuncture. This treatment has been found to help stimulate nerve function, which prolongs the effects of this disorder. Unfortunately, these treatments are very expensive and require long-term care. I will do everything in my power to give back to Reilly what he has given me, however I do not have the necessary funds to provide these treatments for Reilly. I am hoping to raise $1,000 to help offset the costs and get these treatment started as soon as possible.
These treatments will help postpone paralysis as well as secondary-complications.
