On Sunday, April 27, a tragic car accident took the lives of Josh Hensley (21) and Jake Jennings (20) and seriously injured Brittany Branch (19) as they stood next to Josh's Volkswagen. Josh's 63 VW had broken down on I-40 after leaving a car show. Jake saw the car on the shoulder and stopped to help.
Several Volkswagen clubs are uniting to raise money to help the families cover the funeral expenses and Brittany's mounting medical bills. These funds will be divided evenly between the three families. So far, we have joining together the Knox Volks Motor Club (Knoxville), Aircooled Hooligans (Knoxville and International), The Northeast Tennessee Volkswagen Association (Greeneville and the Tri-Cities), German Metal VW Club (Panama City), Dripn Drivers VW Club (Dallas, GA), and Bugs4Christ (Gray, GA).
Josh is remembered as a passionate Volkswagen enthusiast, always trading for different cars and tinkering with them until they were his own. He wore the marque proudly, tattooed on his legs. He lived for Brittany, however. From highschool on, they were inseparable.
Jake "Onetoomany" had both more cars and more friends than a person could count. He is remembered as a man that would help anyone at anytime, all the way until the end. His friends knew him as a care-free, fun loving, car nut. His absence has affected the entire car enthusiast community, in Knoxville and beyond.
Brittany's friends refer to her as both the sweetest person you will ever meet and as a strong willed survivor. She recently completed basic training with the U.S. Air Force, before returning to Josh in Knoxville. She faces tough times ahead, but no one doubts that she will pull through this. She is going to need as much help as we can give her.
Anything that you can give to help is appreciated. If any other car clubs would like to join us in this effort, please contact us through the Knox Volks Motor Club page on Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Knox-Volks-Motor-Club/96190627144
