As most of you know, I will be applying to medical school this June. The application process is arduous and costly, especially considering the added stressor and costs of working on my Masters in Physiology at Georgetown (an accelerated 1 year program). I've slowly been checking off the boxes to get into medical school and am getting closer and closer every day! It's unfortunate when dreams are limited by monetary inaccessibility.
I need your help to become the doctor I've worked so damn hard to be! The next couple of months demand a lot of money that I don't have. My current program is divided into two parts. One part is a certificate program (taught by Georgetown instructors) taught and earned outside of DC in Manassas, and the final part is 10 intensive weeks at Georgetown. The first part of the program ends in May (meaning I need to move to DC in mid-may for the Georgetown portion and for MCAT studies). The Georgetown portion begins in June. Summer leases for DC living begin in Mid May demanding me to pay over $1,000 for rent NOW to secure a living arrangement close to school. Unfortunately, because of the way the Masters program is structured, I will not be able to receive student loans until 10 days before summer classes begin causing a huge financial crisis. I take the MCAT a week before classes, move in mid May, and need to pay $500 just to register for classes (if this fee is not paid ahead of time, I do not get financial aid) all of which costs ~$3,000.
MCAT & Med School App fees: $500
Rent: $1,100 / Month (Thanks D.C.)
Living Expenses: $1,000 (for now through June)
Summer Class Registration Fee: $500 (Ridiculous, right?)
Currently, there is no way I can afford any of this on my own, so I need any help I can get. The student loan money is guaranteed to be released to me come mid June, so even if you can temporarily loan me money, that will greatly help!! I can pay back any loaned money by June 15th.
