Peace Studies Trip to Rwanda
Spende geschützt
After my experience volunteering in Namibia, I realized that my purpose and passion is assisting African tribes in conflict resolution. Since that realization, I have been trying to make this dream a reality.
I have applied and been accepted for a 2014 study abroad program to Rwanda titled Post-Conflict Resolution and Peace Building. Through scholarships and other sources of funding, I have been able to pay for more than 80% of the trip, but just need a little extra boost to help with the rest.
The program involves an intensive language study in Kenyarwanda, history of Rwanda (emphasis on the events leading up to the genocide), peace building and conflict resolution course, research course, and an independent study as well as a two week expedition to Uganda and a month-long homestay with a Rwandan family.
Ultimately, this experience will not only provide a once in a lifetime experience and enhance my ability to pursue graduate studies in conflict resolution, but also provide the experience and networking necessary to reach my full potential and assist in preventing future tribal conflicts.
