Austin was born with Goldenhar Syndrome. Goldenhar Syndrome is a rare genetic condition that causes a craniofacial birth defect of the face and head, usually affecting the eyes, ears, and vertibrae.
Austin is 17now and has had over 55 surgeries, including cleft lip and pallet repair, G-Tube, Tracheotomy, Bone anchored hearing aid, external ear reconstruction, Bone Grafts, Orthodontia, and multiple Mandible Distractions.
Austin has grown into a kind, intelligent and gentle young boy even after enduring bullying most of his life. He has a great future in front of him, as well as many more surgeries.

Hello friends near and far, I wanted to post an update for you all, I have been  receiving letters from the state to disconnect/or remove Austin from his state disability (SSI). This is a formality I guess as he ages into adult hood. It just came as a shock to me that they would start the process and notify me of the changes so soon. So this had me thinking of how I can afford to support Austin thru all the new changes.
As you all know I am a single mom of 3 wonderful kids, and I sometimes work up to 3 jobs just to pay for our normal life let alone all the medical stuff. I have been in prayer these last couple weeks trying to think of ways to financially support Austin with all of his medical needs, ( Just so you know that $287,000.00 of the money raised went to all the medical debt, a new hearing aid, glasses, 3 dental procedures), that will follow him for the rest of his life, should his disability be canceled indefinitely, or take a long time to go thru the appeals process to get him reinstated. So while he wont be covered by insurance, I have to have a back up plan. I just recieved a bill in the mail totaling $20,222.00 that insurance did not cover. I have not a clue how to pay for that.
I receive on a daily basis requests from people to reopen this donation site, people from all over the world  want to help Austin in so many ways and give to a great kid, I have gotten these messages and requests for almost 2 years now (up to 30 a day).
I do not want to take from people that are in the same situation as I, but I also have to be realistic, I am only one person and I want the best for my son, I don't ever want him to go with out any kind of medical miracle if I can help it. You all have loved and cared for my son and pray for him, and so I will leave this in Gods capable hands. Thank you to every single person that has loved my son and has financially supported him. You are all amazing souls.
Thank you for being apart of our lives and supporting us over these last few years. Your love has gotten me thru some really tough days. We often read your letters, comments and messages, as I have put them into binders so we can read your encouraging words over and over. You fuel us to be the best we can be. Thank you for that in every way. Just when I think I cant keep going I will get a message of encouragement from someone and it changes my whole day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for your generosity.  God Bless. Each and every single one of you!

This is Austin's Papa. I'm an admin for the GoFundMe and Austin's FB page. I'm a very proud Papa and I'm also very proud of my daughter-in-law. She has done remarkable things for her family and for many other people and families in need. This 9News feature taken about 4 years ago is just one reason why I am so proud of her and my grandchildren.
