Earthfest 2014 Startup Campaign

Live music, local vendors, artwork, speakers, performers, and what would a Sheboygan festival be without brats...organic ones, of course!

Since 1990 Earthfest's mission has been to bring the community together through art and music, as well as educate the general public how to make sustainable choices in every day life. Local vendors of handmade and upcycled goods fill the park, along with area non profit organizations. You won't find large national brands, here! You WILL, however, be greeted by Sheboygan's farmers market, who shares Fountain Park with Earthfest every year. You could very easily say that Earthfest has a unique spirit that you won't find at other area festivals.

This event is run 100% by volunteers, and any proceeds are either held on to for startup funds of the next year, or donated back to local organizations. No one receives a salary. This is a labor of love for the Earthfest planning team.

As the attendance of Earthfest grows, so have the costs to operate it. We purchase brats and burgers from local, organic farms, yet wish to charge our attendees the same as you would pay at *other* brat festivals. Event insurance rates are ever changing, and the cost to book quality, local musicians rise each year as well (and they deserve every penny!) Additionally, Earthfest is FREE for all to attend.

Earthfest has always been a cooperative event, owned, operated and enjoyed by the people of Sheboygan. Though we have received donations from local businesses and organizations, we have never taken on large corporate sponsors, and it is not our intention to do so any time in the near future.

Our goal of $2,000 is only a portion of the startup costs needed to fund Earthfest. A short list of what the funds will go towards include:
$750: Rental of tables, grills, safety fencing and other equipment from the City of Sheboygan.
$1200-$1600: Sound & light equipment and hiring of a sound engineer for the entire weekend.
$1000-$2000: Musicians and other performers
$700-$1000: Event insurance

Future plans also include obtaining our own 501c3 status, which includes hefty legal fees.

As they say, every little bit helps! So we are reaching out to our community to keep this grassroots event going for years to come. Please donate, share and spread the word! Thank you in advance!
