About The Project
In early 2011 the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada, under the direction of the Toronto Branch initiated a project to digitize the entire collection of UNF Archives, Libraries and Reference Material. As Canada's oldest, and longest continually functioning Ukrainian institutions, the UNF of Canada has amassed a vast collection of books, periodicals, videos and other resource material at all of its branches across Canada. This project, which has Five phases, is intended to develop a resource for not just the UNF, but all Ukrainian-Canadian institutions to be able to digitize their archival material and make it available to the world.
The need for this project in the community is great, the objective is to preserve, electronically a huge collection archival, resource and information books and materials related to Ukraine and Ukrainians. At the outset the UNF has recognized that as community volunteer resources become stretched thin; and that with each passing year the archival material, critical to the preservation of the Ukrainian identity in Canada and around the world, gets older and is lost due to age, and condition, that we are loosing the collective spirit and knowledge of our origins, of our history and our identity. More recently, as we witness threats to Ukraine's territorial integrity, national identity and prominent history, with examples of book burnings at "Prosvita" Buildings in Ukraine and the desecration of Ukrainian archival material by the criminal regimes in Ukraine(former) and Moscow who are determined to wipe out the Ukrainian historical records, that the need to preserve Ukrainian Knowledge and Information is critical.

How Will The Funds Be Used?
The funds raised through this campaign will be exclusively used to the purchase and installation of teh equipment necessary to digitze and preserve the collection. As much of the physicial work as possible will be completed by volunteers, and any paid activty will come out of other funds, not associated with donations recieved from this campaign. You can rest assured that your donation will not only be sent to a reputable community organization, but that 100% of your donation will be used for the project at hand, and none will be diverted to administrative needs.
