My Mother's Housing/Medical expenses

Donation protected
My mother is disabled and was granted SSI benefits after she had a stroke which resulted in vision loss and instability in her balance in the early 2000s. Her health has continued to decline over the years with mental and physical disabilities increasing such as Congestive Heart Failure, Irregular heart beat, Hemochromatosis, High blood pressure, High cholesterol, Glaucoma, Depression, Adult A.D.D., Anxiety Panic Disorder, Chronic migraines, etc. Unfortunately, in 2009 my grandmother had passed away and my mother had received money from her will and used that as additional living support for the time being. But, by the end of 2011 due to some needed updating through SSI on my mothers income, the government at that point decided to cut off all monthly living support. All my mother had left to live off of was the remains of her mothers will, so my 2 older brothers and myself came together to buy my mother a trailer to live in a trailer community since its the most affordable living. The money from the will had ran dry in late summer 2013, so since she had to wait until she ran out of money to be able to re-apply for SSI, we were finally able to go in and help her do that. In the meantime of us waiting for her approval or denial from filing, us 3 older children who have steady income have had to use all of our combined savings to support ALL of my mothers living expenses from medical bills, housing, car, food/water, phone, and so on. Now, after covering expenses for almost a year and it taking 7 months to hear from SSI, we got word that she had been APPROVED! but, it is only enough to cover half of her monthly living/medical expenses. We are very blessed that we got re-approved, but unfortunately we are out of savings and way over our heads in our own bills and debts to be able to cover for my mother much longer and we already calculated out between the 3 of us and we only have enough left out of our own pockets to last through the end of June 2014. We will be filing now for an appeal upon the governments decision to only fund us HALF of what she needs to get by, we will not go down without a fight. My oldest brother and his wife have a 5 year old and 1 year old and struggle to afford what they have and neither have the time to get a second job. My other brother and his wife struggle due the severity of my brothers Celiac disease along side other major medical issues that constantly leave him with high medical debts. My younger sister has never worked due to her also having mental disabilities and I myself have a lot of medical debts, house bills, and loan debts. I also work full time and I am also a part-time medical student with no time in-between to find a second job.

So, we all decided to create this fundraiser as our last resort. We have held out as long as we could before reaching out for help because we did not want the world to know our business, but desperate times call for desperate measures. We  unfortunately had to grow up rather fast compared to most, since most children don't have to worry about these things until they are old themselves. Taking care of a parent and a lot of times being the parent to your own parent is by far one of the hardest things you will ever have to endure, but if it wasn't for our mother (and God of course) we wouldn't be here, in that alone, we owe her the world. She was our rock, our protector, our supporter and provider through our lives and will always be, now its our turn to continue to be all those things for her no matter what it takes.

We ask you all that take the time to read this to PLEASE try to picture yourselves in our position and understand with an open heart that ANYTHING will help us along the way! it is all a blessing.

God Bless,
Stacey
