Helping son replace car to keep his job

Donation protected

My son and his fiance were involved in a terrifying car accident a few weeks ago.  Unfortunately, because the light at the intersection was not working (not blinking or on) but a complete blackout.  Once he realized this, he was already driving into the intersection, it was only seconds (as he recalls) that he saw bright lights coming at him and soon after, my son and his fiance was T-boned in his tiny mirage by a huge Chevy Avalanche truck. Thank God they made it out alive.  The car left but then returned.  Here in this state, the law allows you so much time to return to the scene due to stress, panic, etc.  My son and his fiance were immediately transported via ambulance to the hospital where they were found to have sustained injuries to the legs, back and stitches from the broken glass from the side door and windshield.  My son told me all he could think to do to calm the impact was to swerve as much as possible, which I certainly believe saved their lives.  Had it been a straight on T-bone, I don't believe...I won't speak it, I'll just say God is good.  After the police report was released and the insurance companies got involved, it was decided that since the fault was of neither party, the claim would be dismissed.  My problem with this is, If you see the damage of both vehicles, you know that the other car had to be going way past the speed limit to do damage to itself in that way (the avalanche whole front end is torn out and we all know these are durable vehicles).  The other party refused any treatment and was soon released from the scene after they had another of their own cars to pick them up and the vehicles were towed.

This dismissal of the claim leaves my son and his fiance unable to get to the doctor to be treated for the injuries they both sustained, and to see why they are having constant headaches.  My son is an assistant manager and was well on his way to another promotion as manager.  However, his job as AM, requires him to travel to other stores relieving other managers and training other employees, etc.  Without his vehicle, he can no longer do this.  This car was just purchased about 3-4 months prior to this.  As a matter of fact, in order for him to get the promotion the managers so badly wanted to give him prior to the normal '6mths' of being on the job at 4mths, he had to have a vehicle.  My son made that happen and received his much deserved promotion.  Now only about 2 months later, they want to promote him again to manager because he is such a steadfast hardworker.  He wants to save up for college, etc.  Although his job understands the accident was not his fault and completely out of his control, they have done him a great favor by allowing him to keep his job and position but have taken him off the schedule until he starts driving again.  Unfortunately, this also means no pay because he hasn't been there long enough to receive vacation or sick pay as of yet.

This is so crazy and I just want to help him as much as I can, but since he moved out, I have downsized my home and my budget doesn't allow alot of room to buy him another car.  I feel horrible as a mother that I can't help my only son.  Especially seeing as hard as he is working and having been through this horrific accident.  Not to mention, this is his 2nd car, the 1st was a lemon and we couldn't get our money back for that one, so we completely lost out.  I am usually the first one who will say no to any handouts, but I we are all out of options at this point and as a mother, it's hard to see him suffer in this way, mentally and physically, through no fault of his own and not be able to do anything about it.

Please find it in your hearts to be a vessel and help us find a way out.  Any help would be a blessing in our eyes.  Thank you all in advance.
