Yoga teacher training and education

In 2011 my journey started blind, but I knew I needed to make a change. I began shifting my paradigm through meditation, running, bicycling and a change of job. I donated 90% of my possessions to those in need. This enabled me to return to basics focusing on my body, mind and heart. As an avid athlete my entire life, I decided to challenge my body and mind by completing a triathlon. I began training and in 2012 was running between 3-5 miles a day and riding my bike 3 times a week for atleast 20 miles.
On October 3, 2012 I was involved in a car accident. It caused back and neck injuries that would change my entire life direction and challenge my spirit. I could hardly walk let alone run. I found myself in a downward spiral of sleepless pain filled nights and frantic thoughts. After months of physical therapy I had minimal results. It just wasn't working, the sciatica pain raged on and I couldn't quiet my body to meditate.
I found myself lost and weeping as a last resort when a voice jumped in my head and said "yoga". It was a little light that gave me hope. On March 19, 2013 I completed my first yoga session. I started out in agony, and somewhere in the middle my breathing stabilized and I was able to focus on my body position. While we laid in shabasana, ( the final resting pose where you lay flat on your back) I realized for the first time in over 6 months I was comfortable and was experiencing a calm I never new.
While it has still been a journey to get back to running, my little light of hope has turned into a beacon of truth and I want to share the power of this practice.
In an effort to continue to nurture my body, mind and heart, I have moved to South Carolina to complete my teacher training and be part of starting a farm. With hard work and the help of the community the farm has planted roots and begun to flourish.
While I am ready to complete the challenging teacher training, I need your support to help cover the cost of tuition and travel expenses. The course I am able to enrol in starts August 1, 2014 and lasts for an intensive 21 days, Monday through Friday from 8am- 5pm. I will be learning sanskrit and the tools that will help cultivate the skills I need to let me share the knowledge and spirit that surrounds the practice.
A truth I have learned about journeys is that none are made possible without each other. As a thank you for those who help support, I will be offering a number of free private classes at the farm.
The direct translation of yoga is "to join" and it would be a pleasure to have you join me on this journey.
Namaste my friends
