Dear Friends,
This December our group will be hosting our second free technology workshop to teach essential technology skills to underprivileged young girls between the ages 12-16 in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Like in many other parts of Africa, girls in Sierra Leone have unfortunately not been exposed or encouraged to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, which unfortunately excludes them from various career opportunities. Our goal is to bridge this gap and help them gain confidence and skills to enable them to partake in the modern world. During our 2014 summit, 50 girls will be given the opportunity to participate in a photography workshop where they will get behind the lens and learn basic camera skills as well document their lives through short videos and images. This workshop will offer digital cameras as well as a tailored curriculum that will also enable them to develop community video blogging projects throughout the year.
In order for this workshop to be a success, we need your help to provide all the necessary supplies for the girls. Any amount you can spare will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in enhancing their skills and ultimately changing their futures.
