I'm a first-year college student enrolled at
Texas Lutheran University
. At the start of the year I was all set up and excited to finally start my college life after taking a year to work and earn money for some of the tuition. Unfortunately, this year is more financially tight. I can't afford to take out anymore loans, and if things go the way they are, I won't be able to attend TLU next year. I have nearly run out of the money I saved from work, and my family has contributed
to the best they can already. Basically, I'm flat-broke and still in college. Not a good combination.
This sucks incredibly, because even over a single semester I've grown to love everything about TLU, from the faculty and students to the classes and the campus itself. As a Dramatic Media major, I've found a sort of family here in the Ensemble group, people who are helping to give me confidence and inspire my creative and expressive nature. It would be awful to have to leave this tight-knit community behind. I made the Dean's List for my first semester, so I'm doing well but may not be able to continue without financial aid. While my search for extra scholarships and jobs continues, I'd greatly appreciate any immediate help I can get. This is where I need your help!
The goal I need to reach seems large, but this is over the remaining 6 semesters.Every little bit counts! Any extra over will go towards paying off my loan and extraneous school expenses like extra books or supplies. I just know that TLU will help me grow my talents and help tell stories.
In addition, and this is a big dream, I'd love to study abroad in England. In the Spring 2015 semester, TLU has a joint program with
Harlaxton College
in England, where they will send over a group of students to conduct a 4-week study program. The total tuition for this semester is slightly less than the standard TLU tuition, but the added plane ticket and transportation costs just about even it out. Many of my other classmates are planning to go this coming Spring so I am also hoping to attend then as well.
Now with REWARDS: COMMISSIONED ART! I have been doing digital art as a hobby for a while (the image above is one of my recent works), and take commissions for my art online. Normally you can commission me from
