This all started with 2 orphaned squirrels named Idgie and Ruth. Idgie and Ruth were about 2 weeks old when their mother was killed by hunter. My brother found out about them, picked them up from the finder, and rushed them to me. (He knew I would do everything in my power to save them.)

So, there I was, two tiny, orphaned babies in front of me with nothing to offer them but love and care. My brother and his wife ran out and bought a cage and formula and everything else they could think of because I just didn't have it at the time. While they were out, I began my research...

*Something you should know about me, if I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it all the way. I can be obsessive and particular and I stress myself (and everyone else around me) out by giving absolutely everything I have to whatever it is I have going on.

I was able to find basic care information online from several reliable sources and thank God I found an amazing, local, licensed rehabber! She has given me wonderful advice and support (along with cages, formula, and hours of her time) and even added me as a sub on her license. The rest is history...

With her help, and my passion for animals, I'm now caring for 5 orphaned possums and 3 orphaned squirrels. Idgie and Ruth (and their adopted brother, Little Man) are almost ready to be released but this is just the beginning of the busy season so I'm sure more babies will be coming in soon.

Like what I'm doing? Want to help?

A few people have asked how they can help and usually, I feel uncomfortable saying, "money" but the truth is, money is key. I can give all the time in the world and all the love in my body but without the proper formula and food, these critters just wouldn't survive. So, after some googling I found GoFundMe.

It's an easy way to donate to the cause and really, every dollar helps. (Between formula, blankets, heating pads, cages, etc., it all adds up.) So, if you support what I'm doing and have a little extra in your bank account, make a donation. If you don't have extra money (who does?!) you can donate cages, baby blankets, heating pads, veggies/fruits from your garden, eggs from your chickens, pecans from your tree, or whatever else you think one of my critters would enjoy and it will be greatly appreciated!

Also, if you prefer, you can donate pet store gift cards or a gift card from FoxValleyNutrition.com where we get our formula. All donations are appreciated and thank you all for the support and kind words. It means the world to me.
