The Great Badger Trail 2014

The Great Badger Trail

This is a 10 day march from Gloucester to London designed as a  fundraising event to support the anti badger cull movement in the proposed cull zones of Gloucester and Somerset. Dorset too if it is included once the cull is announced.

Our aim is to  attract individuals and communities to organise sponsored events along the whole of the route of the march.
We need to publicise the event far and wide via social media and other methods, which is part of what our funding request is for. Ama Menec, chair of TBVAC Devon will walk the whole 112 miles @ from Gloucester. She will be accompanied by the Badger Army, the euphemistic name for ordinary individuals who have stepped forward to fight to save the badgers.

All those taking part must be sponsored, whether they walk for 1 hour, one day, one week or the whole 10 days. Our aim is to make money and to educate the public along the way in regards to how TB is spread, how to eradicate it and what farmers and the government could be doing, that they are not doing at present. The Badger has been scapegoated and we aim to keep their plight in the news right up to the the day before the licences for the Pilot Culls begins again this year, on June1st.

To do this we have costs to do with publicity, phones, fuel, merchandise, food and a bedding/ luggage shuttle to organise. If you can support this setting up phase, whatever the size of the donation, it will be greatly appreciated.

In the event the cull is not rolled out, then any monies raised will be used to promote/offer vaccination in those same geographical areas of Gloucester, Somerset and Dorset.

Please give what you can.

Many thanks

Just a quick new message to everyone.... the walkers are making a phenomenal effort to raise money and public awareness, it has been a bloody nightmare all the way and the more tired they get, the harder it becomes. There has only been one dry day, the first, all the rest has been torrential rain, like a monsoon or relentless drizzle... wet is their norm. Blisters are plentiful, bones out of place, backs hurt, batteries flat.. yet, they keep going, on and on and on.Dogs have come and gone too, some doing one day but Buddie and Brodie have now walked 5 of the days completely, after 2 days off, it is a massive task balancing their needs and the walkers needs. Each one of them, man and beast deserves a Golden Badger Award... please empty your pockets and give as generously as you can to SAVE THE BADGERS
