We have raised over $4000, and this couldn't have happened without some amazing people and there devoted support for our community! We have already provided 17-$100 gift cards, and another $2300 will go directly to the Oso Fire Department on Friday, who will distribute to those in need. My sincere THANK YOU to everyone who has supported this page. Please continue to share with your friends and family.
I received a message yesterday regarding this page being dedicated to Cameron Howell. This person decided to rescind his donation, as he could not locate Cam Howell's name in the fallen or missing names of the Oso Mudslide. (I will be sending his donation back to him, as soon as he provides me with an address. I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable about giving a donation.) This page is in memory of Cameron Howell, who lived and breathed Oso, all the way down to his Oso tattoo.. He lost his life at a very young age, 10 years ago. His parents, Debbie and Randy Howell, who own a local barber shop in Arlington, were deeply moved when I chose to honor his memory. They also live in Oso, and have been instrumental in the local relief effort. I like to think of Cam as our Spirit-in-the-sky, looking down on all his fellow family and friends who have lost lives, and are coping with the aftermath of this tragic event. If he was alive today, he would be right there, giving every ounce of support to contribute to the rescue and relief effort. His kind heart and loving personality will never be forgotten, and will continue to shine over his Oso comrades. This donation page is not a fund raiser for the fallen victims of the mudslide (there are numerous other donation pages set-up for this specific cause). This page is designed to raise money for the people in need, whether it be to provide monetary support for those that have lost everything, or to support the rescue crew.. I am in direct contact with Willy and Tim Harper (Oso Fire Dept. Chief and Lieutenant); relying on them to provide the specifics of what these families need right now, or what the fire department might need so they can continue their efforts. Please email me directly if you have any questions. I have posted photos of the received gift cards at the Oso Fire Department on Tuesday, and will continue to keep you updated on where YOUR money is going. The Haggen gift cards will allow families to get the essentials they need, allergy specific items, toiletries, and prescriptions from the Haggen pharmacy.
In this sad time, I am reminded of our fallen spirit in the sky, Cameron Howell.. A true - dedicated member of the OSO community (tattoo and all). I would like to dedicate this donation page to Cam and his family.
Thank you so much for your support. It is so greatly appreciated! At 4:00PM today, I will collect what has been donated, and have it directly deposited into a newly established Bank Account through Skagit Bank. As of right now, I will be able to get 12 - $100 vouchers for people to use THIS WEEKEND! Please keep sharing. I will continue to take donations for as long as it takes.
Mashia Hajny, Please send me your email and I will be in touch with someone to contact. My first thought is the hospital, but I will make some phone calls in the morning and get back to you.. Thank you!
UPDATE: I am working with a local grocery store to setup a donation fund for families in need. Depending on how much money is raised, we will select names at random to redeem a $100 voucher for food and diapers. Once we reach our goal of $1000, we will choose 10 random families (provided by the local relief effort), to use money for the supplies they need. If we get more than our goal, we will distribute as needed.

The Oso mudsilde hit hard to a small community Saturday morning.. A community I am all too familiar. Please show your support by donating to the people that were affected during this horrible incident. It is important that we rally together to support each other. We often want to show support, but don't have the resources to get the money to the right people. I have set up this page for the families in need - and all money raised will go directly to the relief effort.
Many of us know people that live in Oso, grew up in the surrounding areas, or are currently being affected by the destruction of this disaster. Show your support in any amount possible. It is all greatly appreciated.
Small communities hit by a major disaster are often times forgotten. Let's not forget how close this hits home.
