Medical Bills and Doctor Visits

Hi, my name is Marie. 

I'm new to this whole thing, but my friend told me I should give it a shot. A few months ago out of the blue I felt a searing pain in my abdomen. At first I thought it might have been a kidney stone or something, but all I knew was I couldn't make the slightest move without being in agony. I never go to the doctors or the hospital, so finally saying yes and calling my mom to take me was a big thing. She knew something had to be majorly wrong for me to ask to go to the hospital, and by the time I got there I was put through a series of tests to diagnose what was wrong with me. After a CAT scan, ultrasound, and some help from my friend morphine, they finally found out that the pain I was experiencing was a ruptured ovarian cyst. I'm 22 years old, and I had no idea what that meant. All I know was there was something inside my ovary that wasn't supposed to be there and it ruptured. I broke down crying for a few minutes until my doctor finally told me what the deal was, and what I would need to do to get better. He prescribed me painkillers and told me to make an appointment with an OBGYN.

Luckily for me, I don't have health insurance- and I have $900 a month rent. Every time I get another bill in the mail my heart just drops and I have a panic attack. Morphine, cat scan, ultrasound, ER charges- Everything I had was charged, with money I don't have. I know this sounds like a boohoo pity me sob story- and it is. But even a dollar towards this bottomless pit of debt is something I would appreciate beyond words. I don't like to ask people for anything because I was raised to do things on my own, but this is too much. So I'm taking my friends advice and sucking it up- asking anyone who'll listen if they can help me out and lighten the load that's been crushing me bit by bit.
