Hi there! I'm Katie.
It's been my dream for a very long time to do two things: work in theatre and become a makeup artist. Thankfully, I have met one of those goals: I achieved a BFA in Musical Theatre last June. I've recently been given the opportunity to achieve my second goal.
I've been accepted into EI - School of Professional Makeup in LA. The program is amazing - the teachers are top rate, the alumni list is impressive, and it covers every aspect of makeup artistry I'll need for my career. I will be able to attend evening classes so that I continue working at my job as well as auditioning and will complete the program in 15 months. The only downside? Tuition, which after Federal loans comes to $10,491.
In order for me to attend, I need to pay for half of my tuition, and the payment plan is just too far out of my budget to do it alone. I'm trying to raise $6,500 to cover that half of tuition and my makeup supplies to start classes (as well as covering the percentage this site keeps). I've spent years watching YouTube tutorials, taking one off classes, experimenting on mg own, volunteering to do makeup design for theatre companies, and gaining all the experience I can, but nothing can replace a professional education. I want to be able to give back to all those who helped me along the way by using this new skill set to help them back.
Any amount you can give to help me achieve this dream is appreciated more than I could ever express. And if you can't give right now, I'd love it of you passed this along do I can reach my goal!
