The Best Part of Me
My hair is the best part of me
It's as fluffy as cotton candy
And as soft as a white rabbit
When the wind blows my hair turns as cold as ice
It's as dark as a smooth piece of chocolate
It's so nice
If I could lay down on a brown canvas I would blend in
If I let out my hair it would look like a lions mane
My hair creates my character
And that's why my hair is the beat part of me!

My daughter Aslan is an amazing poet. She wrote a poem and entered it into a slam poetry contest and was one of two students selected in Oregon to go perform and learn in New York. Her trip will take her for four days to explore New York, write in Central Park, and meet famous poets. Her trip is covered, which I am so grateful for, but she needs a parent chaperone because she is only 10. Unfortunately,I don't have enough time to save up for this trip because they leave in two weeks. It is really important to me that she have someone she knows with her, and I want to be there to watch her have this moment. I know that it takes a community to support stars like Aslan, and that is why I am asking for your help. Any amount that you contribute will help cover the flight and lodging so that I can be there with my daughter. Thank you so much, and we will share photos and poems from her trip.
