Help Us Save Duke!

Donation protected
My husband, Jeremy, and I came home on February 27, 2014 to find a stray dog waiting for us on our front porch. It was obvious that his right hind leg was badly broken and he was emaciated to the point of near starvation.

Despite his condition, Duke (what we now call him), greeted us like long lost family and found a place in our hearts and home. I took him to the vet the next day and they discovered that he has a VERY BAD infection in his leg. The break is old and healed badly. The vet suggested euthanasia or amputation, but warned that he was likely not strong enough to survive surgery in his current condition.

Thanks to some great advice from friends and family, we decided to take Duke home to put some weight on him before we can move forward with his surgery.

We have already spent almost $200 in veterinary bills and the estimate for an amputation is $500-$600. Obviously, this is not an expense that we had planned for. Several friends have indicated that they would like to help, so I decided to put this site together.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. If we happen to raise more than is needed to get Duke's health squared away, we will donate any remainder to the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter. Thanks for all of your kind words and advice.

Duke has already become a part of our family and is getting along great with our other dogs Juno and Zip. GOD BLESS YOU!
