TX Caravan to Join Immokalee Workers!

Donation protected
Since 2001, when the Coalition of Immokalee Workers' first launched their Campaign for Fair Food, Texans have stood shoulder to shoulder with the vibrant movement emerging from Florida's tomato industry, first pushing for Taco Bell to join their groundbreaking efforts and steadily whittling away the resistance of fast-food, food-service and grocery-industry holdouts.

Last month, Walmart -- the world's largest retailer -- joined the Fair Food Program, becoming the 12th multi-billiondollar retailer to do so. The New York Times praised the CIW's accomplishments as "possibly the most succesful labor action in the U.S. in 20 years."

A caravan from Texas -- including the Valley, Houston, Dallas and Austin -- will head to Florida from March 13-16 to join the CIW for their largest protest of the year, at the HQ of the dominant grocer of the southeast U.S.: Publix.

Our caravan includes members of low-wage worker organizations from across the state, including Workers Defense Project and Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition as well as students, youth and families.  Our goal is to learn from the incredible successes of the movement in Immokalee and to bring back inspiration for what is possible in the Lone Star state.

Can you kick down some funds to help get our crew to FL?
