The tables, benches and garbage can were ordered a couple weeks ago. They will be delivered in about a week. I can't wait to begin installing and see my project finished! Thanks again for all of the donations.
Thank you to everyone who donated to my project! I have successfully raised $3800 in a little over 2 months. I didn't think I could get this done in this time. In a few weeks stop by Harding School and see this project finished!
I was so happy and surprised to received a donation from the Helping Hands Program at Harding School yesterday! The Harding School Student Council presented me with a check for $968.91 - thank you so much everyone for all your support with this project! I really appreciate it! I am now at 86% of my goal!
Harding School Student Council
Thank you everyone for all of your donations towards my project! I am almost half way towards my goal! I especially thank Harding School for having a school wide fundraiser to help me reach my goal!
I appreciated being the Spotlight Student at the March 10, 2014 Kenilworth District Board of Education Meeting! I was able to present to the Board my Eagle Scout Project and it was received very well by them! Thank you so much for this opportunity and for your continuous support of my project!
March 10, 2014 Board of Ed Meeting
Thank you everyone for your support! I never thought my ideas as a student could become real and so far the support in just 4 days proves to me that this can happen before my goal, by the end of the school year.
Hi, I am Chris Kossor from Troop 83, Kenilworth NJ. I am 14 and a Life Scout with all of my required Eagle merit badges completed, a total of 47 badges to date. I am now working on my Eagle Scout project.
I submitted my project proposal to Patriots Path Council and received approval to start project. The first part of my project is fundraising.
My project is to install two picnic tables, two benches, and two garbage cans next to Harding Elementary School's playground. I attended and graduated from Harding Elementary School and while there as a student, I always felt like something was missing during recess and after school. I would see students and friends sitting on the ground reading books and playing games. There wasn't anywhere to put jackets or lunch boxes but on the ground. Now that I can do my Eagle Scout Project, I thought it would be a great asset to the recreation area at Harding Elementary School if picnic tables, benches, and garbage cans were added for use by students, friends, parents, exercise enthusiasts during and after school.
I visited other schools and county parks to see what type of picnic tables and benches were suitable for use at Harding. Most were commercially made from safe recycled plastic material, no painting or maintenance required and made to last many years. I was surprised to learn how expensive commercial tables are (>$900) but decided that was the way to go. Fundraising $3,800 includes the cost of two picnic tables, two benches, and two outdoor garbage cans (trash and recyclable).
I sure would appreciate your help to raise the funds needed to accomplish my goals. Any funds left over will be donated to Harding Elementary School.
Thank you for supporting my Eagle Scout project to benefit Harding Elementary School and our community.
