We, The Children of Ghana Initiative, are a small student-run organization striving to raise funds and awareness for countless struggling children throughout the nation of Ghana. Tens of thousands of Ghanaian children are burdened with unfathomable difficulties ranging from less-than-ideal education opportunities to the loss of several childhoods. As a group, we work with three fantastic organizations with which we have personal relations with and are very confident about. Below is a detailed description of each organization. With your help and donations, we can work to improve the opportunities and quality of life of thousands of impoverished Ghanaian children. Every little contribution makes a huge difference so we truly appreciate anything that you have to offer. Thank you so much! The organizations we currently work with: Father's House Ghana, Mama Bernice's Orphanage, and Hafiakor-Basic School. They could all use help so bellow are some of the projects your donations would be put towards.
Father's House: An organization founded by a young Ghanaian man and his father, Father's House paired up with a group of American volunteers who have dedicated their lives to raising money and awareness for the thousands of child slaves in Ghana. 7,000+ children are subjected to perilous lives on Lake Volta serving as slaves to fishermen. The children are malnourished and mistreated everyday. Worst of all, they are stripped of their childhood. Father's House works to rescue these children and help them regain their childhoods. Mama Bernice's Orphanage: Mama Bernice is a lovely, heartfelt local Ghanaian woman who has created a sort of safe haven for hundreds of children in her village/community. With around 20 boarding orphans and hundreds who depend on her resources and love, Mama Bernice certainly has her hands full. She does not have adequate funds to care for all of these children but would never turn a child down at the same time. With our help, we will aid in the funding of a larger home for the boarding orphans and resources for all of the children.
Hafiakor-Basic School: Hafiakor is a K-8 school for the local, village kids in Anloga, Ghana. The school has very little resources for learning. Lacking strong textbooks and curriculum guides, the eager students are unable to learn to their fullest potential. With our help, these children can receive up-to-date learning materials to enhance their school experience. We also want to provide more recreational items such as toys and books, all of which they would be incredibly thankful for.
