Support MBHS as we bid for National Award (iAwards)

On the 11th June Murray Bridge High School was confirmed as the state iAward winners at a special dinner event. The iAwards team comprises of five members: Joshua Davis (Y10), Joshua McEwin (Y11), Ben Edwards (Y12), Connor Elliott (Y12) and Phea-Jah Gage(Y12). As the winners of the state event we will now be competing for the National iAward in the secondary school category.

The iAwards honours a broad range of categories at the cutting edge of technology innovation and through the Student Domain, celebrates the up and coming innovators of the future. The iAwards provides the platform to discover, recognise and reward ICT innovations that have the potential to, or are already significantly impacting the community.

The iAwards are judged by the industry and provide recognition that extends across all sectors of the digital economy.

The students winning project was “The Universal Student Toolkit”, a software solution designed to aid students across Australia in accessing help and resources for the Australian curriculum. In its initial offering it had custom calculators designed specifically for each individual topic for Year 8 maths. The program was designed as a modularised scalable solution that can be adapted to add more year levels and more subjects as the program evolves. There was a strong STEM focus in the development with Maths, ICT and Technology being the first iteration. The next module to be developed will look at simulated Science experiments.

The next step will be to attend the National event in Melbourne 26-27 August as the South Australian Winners.

Full details of the iAwards and winners video can be seen on the iAwards website: www.iawards.com.au

We are raising funds to ensure these students from  regional Australia can fully participate in the judging process where we will have to present our software to the judging panels with the hope of becoming the National iAward Champions.

Check out the iAwards website for more details and for winners interview clip.
