Liberty Canteen Program Helps Veterans

Donation protected
The Alameda County Blue Star Moms, Chapter CA23 in the SF Bay Area, is a local chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America; we are a registered nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to assisting our Troops, Veterans and Military Families.  As a 501(c)3 organization, we raise funds to provide various programs that include, dinners to our Wounded Warriors and their families at the local VA; provide blankets, food and necessary items to our homeless veterans and low/fixed income veterans; assist the families of our military who are living at a low income level that need help with various items like school supplies, food, diapers and work hard in the annual toy drive assisting over 500 families each year. In addition, we do all that we can to support our Troops who are serving, including Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard and especially the families of our Fallen Heroes.

We are 100% volunteer staffed and accept no gratituties for our work; it is a work of love for those who stand for our freedom.

We are raising funds for our upcoming programs-here is a sampling of what we are trying to accomplish: to provide assistance through our Liberty Canteen program to help local veterans with their personal needs, including but not limited to: non-perishable food, warm coats, shoes, socks, clothing, toiletry items and more.  "Welcome Baskets" that will be laundry baskets for local military families who are being transferred to our area but whose personal belongings have not yet arrived: these will hold 1 bottle of laundry detergent, inflatable air mattress(es) as needed, sheets for mattresses, a set of bath towels for the family, basic food staples and canned food, maps of the area, assorted kitchen basics such as potato peelers, spatulas, cooking utensils, dishware, napkins, diapers, formula, baby blankets, childrens blankets, etc.  Items such as the inflatable mattresses will be returned once their furniture arrives to allow another family to utilize them.  We are also trying to collect new clothing for the Chaplains Closet that we supply items to for our Wounded when they are finally ambulatory; such as new running/walking shoes, baseball caps, sweat pants, sweat shirts, women's sports bras, etc.  A complete list is on our website at: www.alamedacountybluestarmoms.org.

We are a small group of military moms and families that have provided assistance to thousands of local military children and also to our local communities through blood drives, toy drives, school supply donations, care packages for our Troops,  and more.

We also provide free programs to educate the community about important subjects such as PTSD; assistance to veterans at local resource fairs; provide job assistance and notifications of openings to the local community; assist military families with welcome baskets to help them until their own household needs until their personal items arrive (some times that can be up to 2 months that their children have no beds, towels, shampoo, etc) along with providing care boxes to go for our veterans to pick up that have a meal in them with personal care items, blankets, and other essentials.

Your donation is greatly appreciated and put to use for those in need. Please help us to continue to help others. Thank you.
