"God made the world but we made the field".

To make this field our own we need to fundraise.  We need your help and support.

I taught in the local Primary School, Scoil Lorcáin, now Scoil Eoin since amalgamation, from 1971 to 2009.  In 1974 the teachers, supported and encouraged by the parents of the parish of Kilbarrack-Foxfield founded Naomh Baróg GAA Club and used Gaelic Games to involve hundreds of boys and eventually girls and through sport challenged them to grow with confidence and self-esteem.  Since our foundation the Club has played a huge part in developing a positive environment, giving people a pride and connection with their community, supporting parents with the physical and moral development of their children and helping to influence countless young men and women who are now scattered to the four corners of our country and the world.  Their love and loyalty for the Club remains strong and still connected to the Club.

From the moment the Club was established the founding members wanted the best facilities for its young members.  The founding members, mostly parents had the vision and initiative to achieve their aims.  Having lost their original football/hurling pitch in 1978 to make way for developers to build a Shopping Centre, now Greendale SC,  the Club along with intereseted community groups pursued the only vacant green space left in the area that was owned by the Office of Public Works(OPW) and earmarked for a Women's Prison.  After a successful campaign to leave the space for recreational purposes and with huge local support the Club obtained a 99 year lease from the OPW in 1982.  Ten years  after the Club was founded, Páirc Bharróg opened September 1984 when Dublin played Meath in a challenge game before 5000 spectators.  It was a wonderful and exciting day in Kilbarrack.  In 2001 the vision continued when the Club opened its excellent Club House and in 2004 its All Weather Pitch.  The Club at present is a huge Club and recognised as one of the best Clubs in the county.

Now the Club has arrived at another important stage in its development with the opportunity to purchase the Free Hold from the Office of Public Works.  To purchase and acquire our own ground would be some achievement for a Club founded forty years ago, giving us the independence to contuinue our development for the benefit of our members, young and old.  To assist the finance to purchase the ground the Club is organising a Sponsored 100km Blazing Saddle Cycle that will take place on the 12th September 2015 when our members, parents and friends will participate to help attain the necessary funds.  The Event will involve 50 teams.

Reading the above I am sure will recall many positive memories for so many people.  You will always be welcome in our Club.  If home on holidays or visiting family or friends call in to see us.  I would appreciate your support and encouragement, no matter how large or small to assist us to continue our work in encouraging our hundreds of players, young and old, boys and girls from the communities of Kilbarrack-Foxfield, Bayside, Sutton and parts of Donaghmede, Raheny and Baldoyle to play sport while challenging them to grow with confidence and self-esteem.
