Veteran Alternative Therapy Retreat

Tax deductible

When CPT Adrian returned home from Iraq, decorated for bravery in combat with his brothers in arms, the celebration was a joyous one. But when the confetti settled, and the music stopped, he realized he had never felt so alone in his life. It was then, Adrian, haunted by his memories of war, decided to take his own life. His dog, Thor, sensing his owners sadness, dropped a ball in his lap.
What if he had been alone that day? How many of our Veterans are left alone, hopeless, and without recourse?

22 Veterans a day commit suicide. 22 Veterans a day feel that they have nowhere to turn, and the only way to find peace is to end their own lives. Often referred to as the "Invisible Wound" of war, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has become pandemic in our military communities, with an estimated 27% of Veterans being affected. With thousands of Servicemen and women returning from deployment over the next several years, this is not a Military problem- it's an American responsibility to help us welcome our Military home- through reconnection, reintegration, and recovery.

Invisible Wound is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about PTSD in our Nations Veterans, and encouraging warriors who are affected by PTSD to take an active roll in their recovery.

We need your support to raise funds for our first therapeutic retreat to be held in April of 2015 in the D.C. area. The focus of the retreats will be to host approximately 15 Veterans, and their primary support person, for 5 days. Here, the Veteran and primary support person will have the opportunity to build a tool kit for themselves, and their families as they struggle with the impact of war and deployment on their lives. Teams will participate in several proven alternative therapies ranging from equine and canine therapy, acupuncture, yoga, guided meditation, small and large group sessions, and opportunities to reconnect with nature. Not only do we want to introduce different strategies for the Veteran to use, but most importantly, we want to make sure these tools are accessible to our Veterans, free of cost, for as long as they continue to provide a benefit, and, that there is a continuing network of resources readily, and constantly available.
Please help make this dream for our Veterans a reality!
"Welcome Home" isn't just something that we say, it's a promise that we keep. Join us in our mission to serve those who have answered the call of our nation.

If you are unable to donate monetarily, you can still help tremendously by sharing, so that others may have the opportunity.
Thank you, from all of us at Invisible Wound, and from the Veterans and their families, to whom you offer the most important gift of all- the gift of hope.
