Crazy Hyundai Tucson Turbo Project

Donation protected
Hello,

my name is Yaroslav, I am a member of Ukrainian Hyundai Tucson Club and Automobile Federation of Ukraine.

I am a big fan of the Hyundai brand since I bought my first Tucson in 2008.

The Tucson that I drive now - my second one - was bought by me 2 years ago specially for tuning purposes, because I've always dreamt of making a unique car out of Tucson. And I'm doing well so far. My project is currently unprecedented in the territory of Commonwealth of Independent States (former USSR-countries).

This winter and spring I am planning to prepare my Hyundai Tucson for the next racing season, specifically, to build a turbo-project with the engine power up to 500 hp or more.

No one has ever modified Hyundai Tucson this way anywhere. I have a big wish to dispel the myth that Tucson 'does not drive', 'does not have a racing character' or that it's 'a family car only'.

I plan to take part in all official drag racing championships in Ukraine in the upcoming 2015 and 2016 seasons. If I succeed to boost the engine up to 500 hp or more and if the funding is sufficient, I'd participate in "Moscow Unlim 500+" and in Western European drag racing championships or attend all other possible types of racing events.

I plan to install a turbo-charger, frontal intercooler, to redesign the stock engine cooling system, fuel injector system, brake system, homologation safety frame in the compartment without significantly changing the latter except replacing the front seats with sporting ones that have sport safety belts,

porting, grinding and polishing the cylinder head and intake manifold, manufacturing aggressive camshafts and split cogwheel, weight reduction of fly wheel, installing tuned clutch from enhanced organic and (possibly) carbon, installing a screw-type sport suspension, manufacturing a bodykit of fiberglass and carbon.

As for the potential risks related to car customization and the implementation of the „Crazy Tucson“ Project, there can be some difficulties with modifying the default 2.0 liter 4-piston Hyundai Tucson Beta II in-line engine (which is an exact copy of Mitsubishi 4G63 engine) and installing a turbine. To be more specific, when testing the already assembled engine with the turbocharger – there can be problems with its piston and valve systems. Additionally insufficient engine power can also be an issue.

However, these issues are covered by the minimum amount we are planning to raise with your help, dear Ladies and Gentlemen. Thus, we intend to use another default Hyundai Tucson engine, namely a 2.7 liter V6 (with more power and durability that the abovementioned 2.0 liter engine) should any of those factors come into play.

As for the collaborators I’m working with on the „Crazy Tucson“ Project, all of them (including Dmitriy who is seen in the presentation video together with me) are professionals specialized in building and customizing racing cars. In the past few years they managed to create several unique cars that have been taking part in racing events in Ukraine, winning prizes in Ukrainian drag racing championships and Time Attack circuit racing challenges. Thanks to them I can already boast some results which I’ve described earlier and my Hyundai Tucson is now unique both in Ukraine and nearby countries.

Since such a project will require considerable financial investments, I kindly ask you, dear Ladies and Gentlemen, to consider my proposition for you to support my project.

I want to add that the car will be used not only for drag racing but also for any other racing events, shows or tuning contests.

I dream not just to make a car that would be a unique one in the whole world, but rather to take Ukraine, its reputation and profile to a higher level. I want Ukraine to be known all over the world. The other side of my purpose and aspirations is to prove to the youth with my own example that doing sport, be it karate, football or racing, is much better than drinking alcohol or taking drugs. I wish our youth to evolve. With this Project of mine, I also want to send a message to the numerous fans of speed and street racing: the public roads are not meant for racing challenges. That's why if you want to ride fast and to get a rush of adrenaline while racing, do so in closed tracks, car testing grounds, racing sport complexes, where the safety of viewers, pedestrians and car owners is secured at the top level and where they wouldn't risk their lives and health.

Best wishes from Kyiv, Ukraine!
