Help Veteran With Broken Hip

.At age 18, Benjamin Trowbridge joined the Army in 2009. His MOS was Explosive Ordinance Disposal Specialist. He was injured in 2010 with a condition called a Pincer Lesion. In 2011, he was told by an orthopedic surgeon that he needed immediate surgery. The Army discharged him. He drove his car from Oklahoma City, OK and it died the moment he drove into his drive way in Redding, CA.

Ben has spent the last two and a half years trying to obtain medical attention for his injury. The VA has referred him several times for tests and surgery but failed to authorize payment for the services until January 2014. The surgeon he saw at Stanford Medical said that the delays caused by the VA's incompetence have resulted in such severe damage that surgery may no longer be an option. This 23-year-old Veteran is unable to walk without the assistance of a cane, and even then he is in incredible pain.

Ben has waited over 3 years for the VA to come through for him, but now we are hoping that we can raise money for extensive physical therapy and repairs on his vehicle so that he can travel to his medical appointment

The VA dropped the ball again! We traveled from Redding CA to Stanford for an appt scheduled months ago but the VA hadn't faxed the authorization yet. They had pre-authorized an appt in January but the damage from waiting was so horrific that they had to send him to physical therapy for three months before they could see him. Stanford scheduled a follow up for April but the VA did not authorize physical therapy until the end of March so the appt had to be moved to June. The VA had authorized the April appt but not the change to June, which was their fault for not starting his PT.
