New Orleans Statement of Purpose:

I thank you for taking some time out to read this. It's about that time that my talking turns into walking. I am an aspiring entrepreneur, philanthropist and woman of influence. Besides my personal merit, the only way I am going to succeed is with your support and belief in me and my message. This March I am taking an alternative spring break to New Orleans, Louisiana to help build a home with Habitat for Humanity for a community that was affected by Hurricane Katrina. Please take some time out to like, share, or support my cause. I am a college student on a very special mission to spread positivity and kindness into the world, and to do so through leading by example. I was just 19 years old when Katrina hit, and I must admit at that time my concerns weren't about what was going on in the world. In retrospect I've realized that in the moments of these tragedies we are compelled by human nature to unify and be there for one another, but as time goes by we always seem to lose sight of that unity and forsake those who are still very much in need; those who are in our very own backyard.

It's been 9 years since then and as I've grown, so has my attitude, my life, my journey and my purpose, which has transformed for the greater good. We are humans who get so caught up with materialistic consumption. It's a way of numbing. Some really believe we can make no real difference, and that is more disappointing than frustrating. Not everyone has to have such ambition and go to passionate extremes as I do, but they should at least be humble and humanistic enough not to dismiss or judge the issues at hand or those who believe they can set in motion positive social change; to shift the atrocities, negativity and dishonest actions of our world. I #giveashit for them, for you, for us and for our world. We have been so ignorant for so long, and it is time that our, my generation takes control of how our future plays out, by peacefully redefining history.

In addition to this, I have a passion for sustainability, sustainable practices, positive sustainable habits, education and all things recyclable, compostable and reusable. I am a conscious Ecorep, and I believe that lack of ethical business practices has and does affect our climate, and we are responsible in a subliminal and subconscious way for natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina. By volunteering time to build this home is making up for the person that throws their soda bottle out of the window like it's second nature thinking "You recycle, that is enough which means I don't have to. It won't make a difference".

I am responsible for my flight, room & board, food transportation to the build site that is not yet assigned, but can be up to a 40min. commute (renting a car). In addition to this I wanted to purchase $250 of school supplies from the Dollar Tree to donate to local students and/or a school in the community that we will build the home. Maybe you are not at a place in your life where you can get up and volunteer, but you can do just as much good supporting my cause, and together we can be the change we wish to see in the world.

You can thank Ron Paul for waking me up and Ron Fionte for being a fascinating economics professor. I am not a liberal troll; I am the peaceful independent future.
