Help Brittany Mathis Get a Diagnosis
Brittany Mathis is a 19-year-old waitress in Texas at Kaiserhof Restaurant and Wunderbar, and while Brittany doesn't look or sound sick, everyone at the authentic German restaurant knows it she is.
Brittany
has a brain tumor. Medical bills are piling up, and she does not have
health insurance. Unable to afford the biopsy, Brittany has been unable
to find out if the tumor is benign or malignant.
"I went to the
hospital and found out it was my blood clotting," Mathis told KVUE in
Austin. "So, they wanted to keep me and do CAT scans and MRIs and the
next day they came in and told me I had a tumor."
In an act of heroism, Brittany's boss - Michael De Beyer - is selling his restaurant to pay her medical expenses.
"I
just can't be standing by and doing nothing," said Kaiserhof owner
Michael De Beyer. "I have to try something because it's not right."
Michael
De Beyer has decided to sell his 6,000 square foot authentic German
restaurant and donate money to Brittany Mathis so she can get the
treatment she needs.
"Here's a family, they really work hard they
have a lot of stuff against them in the past and they are not holding
their hand open they didn't even ask anybody for help," said De Beyer.
De
Beyer said he has owned the restaurant for 17 years and believes it's
worth as much as $2 million. He also wants to sell the business to spend
more time with his wife and two children.
Michael De Beyer's act of kindness and compassion has driven us here at Joycott.com to action, and we hope it will inspire you too.
