Eagle Scout Theater Project

My name is Lance Rinehart and I am a 16 year old Junior at Logan High School. I am a member of Boy Scout Troop 236 and working on completing my Eagle Scout rank. As my Eagle Scout project I have chosen to renovate a part of the historic Chakeres Logan Theatre located in downtown Logan, Ohio. Specifically I will be renovating the foyer of the 2nd floor of the building.
The Chakeres Theatre Restoration Corporation, was formed in 2007 to begin the process of acquiring the building and restoring it. After years of planning and several attempts to mobilize public support to work on the restoration, progress has begun to be made in 2015.
The group has leased the 2nd floor only of the building to remodel and restore it for usage of the Logan Theatre Group, which is the performance arm of the Chakeres Logan theatre. The space will be used for other events as well, such as dance classes and community gatherings. The group will also refurbish the marquee this summer in order to publicize events scheduled for the 2nd floor.
I enjoy performing in high school theatre productions and excited to be able to do a project that will help to expose more people to the arts. My project will include removing 2 rooms that were not a part of the original building, removing the current flooring and replacing it, and painting the entire area.
Donations of any amount are appreciated and even small amouts add up. All funding will go towards new flooring, paint and supplies. If any funds remain after the project will be donated to the Chakeres Theatre Restoration Corporation.
