Our Holey Roof!

Donation protected
The Polish American Pulaski Club of Daytona Beach is trying to raise funds for a new roof.  We hope to raise $10,000 to add to monies that we have already raised.  This will allow us to put on the new roof, and also do other repairs that are needed.  Here is our story:

There is a gem in Daytona Beach called the Polish American Pulaski Club.  For over 33 years the club has been the center of Polish customs, celebrations, fellowship, and best of all-- dancing! The Polish American Club started in 1975 with 210 members.  They originally met in various bars in the area.  The dances were held at Prince of Peace Church in Ormond Beach.  They would give the priest $50 for each dance held there.  Ron Luznar and his band would play for free.  One of the original members  reported that in the early days they were like gypsies, always moving around.

Then an older building on South Street in Daytona Beach was purchased.  They met on the first floor, which used to be a grocery store, with an apartment above that was rented out for income.  They then bought the house next door and rented that out.  Savings bonds were sold to individuals to raise money. They kept their goal in mind and continually raised money to build their own facility.

The Polish American Pulaski Club started in 1980 with the merging of the Pulaski Club and the Polish American Club.  Land was purchased in 1980--- 3.5 acres on Rt.92 in Daytona Beach.  The building was completed and the Grand Opening held in September 1985.

The club thrived for many years, holding weekly dances, and celebrating many special occasions.  There were many volunteers to do the many jobs.  Years ago the members made their own pierogy & galumpky.  The club does serve a Polish Dinner on the last Sunday of each month, but alas, the food is not home-made.  We still have wonderful polkas and a variety of other dances, every Sunday.  Free dance lessons are offered after dinner each week.

We love our club!  Besides people of Polish descent, we have many other ethnicities represented.  We all have in common the love of dancing.  The fellowship and friendship that are found here are unrivaled anywhere.

Now with the building getting older, there are frequent, large repairs to be done.   The largest right now is that the roof needs to be replaced.  We no longer have the membership to handle such an expense.  The latest estimate is $10,000.00.  We are asking like-minded people to please donate whatever you can, to help us accomplish our goal and keep the club running.
