Mu Alpha Theta National Convention

I am a teacher for a local Charter school (KIPP Houston Public Schools) in North Houston. Our students have been working hard for the last 3 years to ensure they become national members of Mu Alpha Theta. For the first time, they are eligible to attend the National Convention in Orlando, Fl. This will be one the first times many of of our students get to travel to Florida to do what they love most, Math! We are hoping to get your help and providing the our students with the opportunity to attend this year's Mu Alpha Theta National Convention, where they will get the opportunity to compete and share ideas with other peers around the country. At our school, we believe that education provides choice for a future. We envision a generation of college ready critical thinkers who take responsibility for their learning and who contribute actively by giving back and paying forward. Our scholars will enter a college or university setting with an understanding that where they are from is very much a part of who they were meant to become, and the realization of their educational ambitions can change the trajectory of their futures, their family"š's future, and the community from which they belong. We will generate graduates who will "be the change [we] wish to see in the world". The kids who attend our charter school are all from low economic backgrounds. They are driven to succeed, no matter their circumstances. They are intelligent, wise, and well-rounded.
