Who We Are
Since launching in July 2013, 5n2 Kitchens has provided over 70,000 free and healthy meals for thousands of marginalized families, children, and newcomers in Scarborough.
Now into our fifth year, we are ready to take the next step.


5n2 Soup Kitchens began as a God-given dream in the heart and mind of Seema David. Taking her "5 loaves and 2 fish" she took a step on this journey. 
Having begun with 100 soups we now are serving up to 1200 fresh meals from 9 locations in Scarborough each week.

We have an amazing group of volunteers who work incredibly hard every day to prepare and deliver the hot meals.




Why We Are Asking You for Money
Today one of our main challenges is with the matters of food rescue and safe delivery of our meals to over 9 locations in the city.
We are asking for your support in the purchase of a dedicated vehicle and support to one staff member to manage this important aspect of our work.

A bit about our founder, Seema David:

“I moved to Canada in the summer of 2007 and faced many challenges finding our footing in our new home. I saw so much homelessness in my daily commute, met many new immigrant families in my neighbourhood and learnt of the incredible hardships they faced and this made my needs pale in comparison. I felt the prompting to do something, even if it meant taking a small step in a new direction.

I began to research starting a soup kitchen and this lead to the beginning of 5n2 Kitchens in 2013, with less than 100 soups served to children and seniors in our community, operating out of a local church kitchen. This soon expanded to serving everyday from more locations and currently, we are adding more meals: serving children and youth after school 4 days/week.

Unfortunately hunger is on the increase in Toronto and can’t be ignored: Come join hands with us to feed our hungry neighbors.
