In January 2014, I will be heading to Haiti with 19 other amazingly talented photographers to embark on my first ever "Passion Project". Through my years as a photographer, I have always felt incredibly grateful that I get to do what I love on a daily basis and learn from an incredible industry. Now, it is my time to give back. It is my time to fulfill my dreams. This is an opportunity for me to use my gifts to help other people.
All of us, lead by the amazingly talented Josh Newton, will be heading to Port Au Prince, Haiti and staying at an orphanage called Maison de Lumiere. The orphanage and Child Hope International provides safe homes for homeless, orphaned, and at-risk children in Port au Prince, Haiti. The children receive a loving environment, safe shelter, food, clothing and an education.
Here are a few things we will be doing during our visit:
- Photographing all of the kids, workers, volunteers, teachers, and nurses that live there full time
- Playing with the kids, doing art projects, teaching them business, web design, photography, nursing - whatever our talents lend themselves to
- Writing a photo book/magazine describing the whole history of the orphanage through written word and photos
- Partnering with 6 different orphans who have all started their own businesses - teaching them business skills, marketing, website design, and writing a blog/story about each one.
The $$$ raised for this trip will ALSO will be giving several hundred Haitians access to clean water through Thirst Relief International. Depending on the amount of money raised by this group, we may even be able to pay for a well to be drilled. No pressure, people!
It is all about spreading the love and knowledge to the children that live in this orphanage as well as providing clean sources of water to drink from. YOUR support for this trip is not only enabling me to share my gifts with people I connect with in Haiti but YOU can now be a part of it. Your donations will be used to purchase art supplies, make bio sand water filters, hopefully drill a well, fund a video/media project to cover the whole trip, and the rest will be donated to Child Hope International.
Please make a donation and join me in this amazing journey. I will be posting images to my blog so you can feel just as much a part of it as I am!
Any little bit helps and is very much appreciated!
