Guatemala Community Outreach 2017

Hola Familia & Amigos-
As most of you know in July of 2015 I went on my first mission trip to Guatemala. I was there for 8 days teaching Vacation Bible School and helping put in a new ceiling at the Lutheran Ministry Center in Guatemala City. That trip changed my life in more ways than I could ever have imagined. I was moved by how welcoming the people of Guatemala were and their thirst to hear about Christ, it truly touched my heart. I knew then that God had a plan for me, a plan to continue my ministry work and grow as a missionary wether it be short term or long term serving the people of Guatemala.
In July of 2017 for 8 days I will be returning back to Guatemala for another short term mission trip doing Community Outreach. We will be working alongside Rebeca DeFranco who is the ministry director for Guatemala. We will be providing morning sessions of moral and spiritual values workshops for the Project JOEL Program. We will be working with approximately 150 students in grades 4,5 and 6 at Raquel Blandon de Cerezo public school. Project JOEL helps children find new opportunities to live a better quality of life by discovering and developing personal skills and teaching Christian morals and Values. We will also be providing Vacation Bible School to another 150 children and youth at the Lutheran Mission La Santa Cruz in El Salitre, Amatitlan. The village of Amatitlan is located 25 miles outside of Guatemala City.
Project Costs- The project costs are $6,500.00 which covers printing materials for Project JOEL, snacks for the students for VBS, and costs for chairs and shelving for Sunday school at La Santa Cruz Lutheran Church as well as a $2,000 direct donation to the ministry center to support ongoing missions. I have also added an extra $2,500 on top of the project costs to help with my airfare and individual travel costs for the trip.
