Daughters horse has will to live!!

On November 6th,2013 we got a call from our barn that nobody ever thinks they will get.I was told to hurry up and get there as fast as I could because Fancy was hurt really bad and the Vet was already there. We were not prepared for what we saw.We walked in and saw close to 10 people standing around with their hands on their faces.Everyone I looked at was crying and some were screaming.I started to panic and I still didn't know where Fancy was or what happened but knew it was bad.I walked around the corner with my daughter and we saw her.I now knew why the other boarders at the barn were falling apart.
We were told the horse next to her kicked and she kicked back but a bit too high and her leg went through the metal bars above her stall. She was hanging there and fell on the ground blocking the door.Nobody could get to her and they tried to keep her calm until the vet came because she was thrashing so much.I cannot imagine what happened to make her kick because Fancy is a Western Pleasure show horse. She is the most passive horse I have ever owned and she will gladly walk away and not eat to avoid confrontation.
We stood there watching them clean her leg up and the Vet was shaking his head back and forth.I remember hearing "we don't know if she has blood flow","we don't know if it's broken","do you want me to put her down"
I said "NO"....."this is my daughters horse".My daughter loves this horse. This is the horse that got her through her brothers cancer and the horse she stayed with day and night when her PaPa died and she just needed to be alone. How could I be the cause of taking something from her that she loves more than life?
We made the decision to rush Fancy to University of Georgia large animal hospital in Athens,Ga.The first night was critical.I have never prayed so much in my life but God heard my prayers and we got a call from the doctor that Fancy made it through the night and X-rays showed nothing was broken and she had maintained blood flow through her leg. They would be taking her into surgery soon and once again they let me know how critical it was and how high the chances of her getting an infection were.I did the only thing I knew to do and I prayed!
I received another call letting us know the surgery was a success and they were able to attach everything back but she had severed the tendons and ligaments. Her Tarsometatosial joint (TMT) and her Distal Intertorsal (DIT) were affected and contaminated. The Fetlock and tendon sheath were cells away from contamination.
We drove down to see her and meet with the doctor the morning after the accident. He was so shocked that she made it through the first night, the fact that there were not more than 2 major areas in her leg were affected, and that she stood up on her own right after waking up from anesthesia after her surgery and walked around.
I let him know that we believed that The Lord was watching over Fancy and he will continue to heal her and then asked him if he believed in miracles. This is a miracle because Fancy is doing so well. They took her off all IV meds a few days ago and have not had to repeat the surgery. They have been changing her cast every other day and they are still injecting the leg with antibiotics but there are so many things we have not had to do.This Thursday they will start taking out her sutures and are hoping the skin they grafted on will continue to granulate.
Fancy will most likely be there for another 2-3 weeks in addition to the 2weeks she has already been there. We were originally given an estimate of $15-$20,000.We have already paid $3,000 and owe $5,000 more up until today.I know we will owe more after this next week. She will need months of rehab and expert care after she comes home.
I work at Starbucks and my husband stays at home to care for our 7 year old Autistic son Cam.He is not able to go to school because of medical conditions after the cancer. He has no immune system and gets sick very easily so he is homeschooled.
We have never done anything like this but have no other way to get help.If you could find it in your hearts to help us help Fancy we would be so grateful.God bless all of you,
