Humanity and the Holidays

Hello and happy holidays to everyone. I looking to help a man and his family who have become friends to my family and I after meeting in a breakdown lane on a Saturday evening. This man went above and beyond to help us get off the highway and to get my car fixed I had the money to pay the man for all he did and he would not accept it nor would his son who I tried to give it to. While fixing the car the man and I spoke and he told me of the struggles of being unemployed and how they make sacrifices and things don't seem to get better. I know the economy is struggling and so are many families and this family in the weeks after are literally just getting by and with bills adding up and jobs not coming with ease. I know this man has his pride but it would be an honor to show this man I appreciate what he did for me and my family as well as show him that I can and understand the strife he is going through. I see in the news how people are reaching out to help out to help those who have done great things or had bad things happen to them . I want to raise this money to help them out and give a portion as well to a food bank as that was where I donated the 100$ I was going to give as he requested giving back to them as he has to go to them for help a few times . So please help out this great family and cause and spread the word of our campaign .
thank you

I am on here today to express my gratitude a little further to a man and his kind family. On November 9th My family and I ran into some car trouble on 495. I had called for road side assistance and was quoted 45 min to and hour and a half wait time . In the mean time cars are zooming by my kids are whining their hungry and thirsty and bored . ( as all kids do when in the car) So about a half an hour has gone by and this car pulls up behind us and I see a man and his two kids in the car . The man gets out of the car and approaches my window and asks what the problem is and if he could be of any help . I told him what had happened and that the car would not start up and that I had a tow truck coming . The man proceeded back to his car and got some tools and a battery jump box and told me to open the hood . So I opened the hood got out of the car and told the man I had no Idea what was wrong ,he said it could be a number of things, but lets see if we can get you out of here or off the highway. I couldn't agree with him more as cars a speeding by and its getting dark out . well he did a few things and said that my battery was dead and that my alternator could be dead as well . So he had me start the car with the jump pack attached and it started and in that moment my kids cheered then he removed the jump pack and the car stalled out . The kids got upset and I got out of the car and spoke to the man again and he said it was the alternator . I told him I was grateful for him stopping and trying to help and he expressed that it was a Saturday night and the cost of a tow and waiting til Monday for a mechanic to do it would be costly and that he would like to help . I said how can you help ? The man said he would attach the jump pack and have me drive to the nearest auto parts store and would have the store test the alternator and if it had to be replaced he would put it in for me. So I said that would be great but what if it is not the alternator he said we will cross that bridge when we get to it . The jump pack was attached and he secured the hood and I followed him to the auto parts store which was about ten minutes away and made it with out any problems. We ended up testing the battery, the alternator and did a ecm reading and it came to be true that the alternator had to be replaced .

So while talking to the man I found out he was unemployed and was having a hard time finding work but was getting by, yet sharing bottles of water and candy with my family. He said it was hard as unemployment assistance was on and off and money was tight but they were getting by. I could not help notice the worn sneakers and tattered jackets they were wearing but they seemed happy and healthy. As we talked some more the man said each month its a different sacrifice and with the holidays coming up it will be a challenge. The man and his family were so nice and polite.

As the man finished putting the alternator in everyone seemed to be content and at ease, the kids all getting along my wife relieved that we were not stranded on the highway . So the man asked me to start the car and it started right up, he checked the battery with a tester and said that I should be all set. My wife got out of the car and gave the man a big hug and thanked him the kids cheered and I shook the mans hand and handed him a hundred dollars and the man refused to take it. The man told me to donate it to a charity and the fact that he was able to help was enough. I insisted that he took the money and he would not and I even tried to give it to his son who would not take it. I am so grateful to this man and his family who took time from their lives to help us and guide us to safety along that highway. I do believe that there are nice people out there and the fact he was one of hundreds of cars and trucks to be on the same highway as us to stop and help us out, instead of getting to where ever his destination was at that moment .

So with the holidays quickly coming about I would like to make them as bright as I can for him and his family. Showing him that there are people out there in this world that care and understand the struggles he is going through. So I am asking you to help me this holiday season lift their spirits with a donation of any size.
Thank you
